Design Services

CCRG staff has extensive experience on geotechnical design services for a wide variety of development projects including high-rise and low-rise commercial buildings, churches, residential subdivisions, bridges, shopping centers, roadways, pipelines, storm water basins and embankment dams throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area and central east coast. Our staff relies on efficient management and innovation to complete projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Our engineers are well experienced in evaluating cost-effective earthwork procedures, soil stabilization methods using chemicals and geosynthetics, foundation design, earth retaining techniques, and pavement design alternatives. We use a variety of site exploratory techniques including exploratory drilling and rock coring, test pits, cone penetration testing, and geophysical methods. CCRG uses state-of-the-art computer software to assist with slope stability and other geotechnical analyses.

Design Considerations

  • Pile and caisson foundation designs
  • Shallow foundation designs
  • Foundation bearing capacity and settlement analyses
  • Road and pavement subgrade designs
  • Earth dam designs
  • Seepage analyses
  • Slope stability analyses
  • Soil/rock interface considerations
  • Earthwork specifications
  • Dewatering specifications
  • Field exploration and site drilling
  • Forensic investigations
  • Retaining wall stability analyses
  • Pavement failure investigations
  • Pavement and foundation subgrade stabilization
  • Expert witness testimony
  • Analysis of wet basement problems

Laboratory Testing Services

CCRG maintains a small soil laboratory facility for in-house use. Representative tests are as follows:

  • Moisture content
  • Atterberg limits
  • Grain size analysis
  • Standard and modified Proctor Density tests

CCRG currently utilizes outside subcontractors for all concrete and other soil testing work.
